Description

This family-friendly spinach ravioli recipe offers a quick, comforting meal featuring tender pasta pockets filled with creamy spinach-ricotta in a rich marinara sauce. It’s perfect for busy weeknights and easily customizable for various dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 18 oz fresh or frozen spinach ravioli
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Parmesan, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 0.25 cup packed fresh herbs (basil, parsley)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cook Ravioli: Bring a large pot of heavily salted water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the fresh or frozen spinach ravioli, ensuring the pot isn’t overcrowded. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the ravioli float to the surface and are tender yet still firm to the bite. Drain well in a colander.
  2. Warm Marinara Sauce: While the ravioli cooks, gently heat the marinara sauce in a large 10-inch skillet over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until it’s simmering lightly with small bubbles. (If your sauce seems too thick, a splash of the pasta cooking water will loosen it perfectly).
  3. Combine and Serve: Add the drained, cooked spinach ravioli directly to the simmering sauce in the skillet. Gently toss everything together until each ravioli is beautifully coated in the rich red sauce. Serve immediately on warm plates, garnished with shredded cheese and fresh herbs.

Notes

For a comforting baked casserole, combine cooked ravioli and sauce in a 9×13 baking dish, top with extra shredded cheese, then bake at 375F (190C) for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a spoonful of basil pesto to the sauce for flavor variety.
