- 4 Tbsp (56 g) unsalted butter (or quality olive oil for dairy-free, for richness)

- 0.5 tsp sea salt (enhances all flavors)
- 0.25 tsp black pepper, freshly ground (provides a mild bite)

Instructions
- Prep the Cabbage: Remove any loose outer leaves from your cabbage. Carefully slice the head into 0.5-inch (1.25 cm) thick disks, keeping the core intact to prevent them from falling apart. You should get about 6-8 beautiful disks.
- Make Paprika Butter: In a small, microwave-safe bowl or saucepan, melt the 4 Tbsp of butter until liquid (about 30 seconds in the microwave). Stir in the 2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 0.5 tsp salt, and 0.25 tsp black pepper until well combined. The mixture will look vibrant and fragrant.
- Preheat & Coat: Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Place a large baking sheet (such as a 13×18 inch half-sheet pan) in the oven as it preheats; this helps achieve a fantastic initial sear. Brush both sides of each cabbage disk generously with the prepared paprika butter mixture until glistening.
- First Roast: Carefully arrange the buttered cabbage steaks in a single layer on the preheated baking sheet. Roast for 15-20 minutes. You will notice the edges beginning to soften and turn a light golden color.
- Flip & Finish: Using tongs, carefully flip each cabbage disk. Brush with any remaining paprika butter mixture, if desired, for extra flavor. Continue roasting for another 10-15 minutes, until the cabbage is deeply golden, tender-crisp, and beautifully charred. (If your cabbage is not charring, increase the heat to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC) for the last 5 minutes.)
