Description

- 1 Large Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) Unsalted Butter
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Balsamic Vinegar (Non-Alcoholic)
- 1 tsp (5 ml) Worcestershire Sauce (Halal-Certified)
- 1 tsp (5 g) Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp (5 g) Sea Salt, divided
- ½ tsp (2.5 g) Freshly Ground Black Pepper, divided
- 4 Burger Buns (Brioche or Classic), split
- 4 Slices (80 g / 2.8 oz) Halal-Certified Gruyère Cheese
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Beef Broth (Halal, Low-Sodium)
- Fresh Thyme Leaves for garnish
- Optional: 1 tsp (5 ml) Dijon Mustard for spread
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: Slowly cook thinly sliced onions in olive oil and butter until deeply golden and sweet (25-30 minutes).
- Make Onion Jam: Add balsamic vinegar and beef broth to caramelized onions; simmer until thickened (5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
- Form Patties: Gently form ground beef into 4 patties (125g/4.4oz each); season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Grill/Sear Burgers: Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side (medium-rare); top with Gruyère during the last minute.
- Toast Buns: Lightly toast cut sides of burger buns.
- Assemble Burger: Spread Dijon mustard (optional) on the bottom bun; add patty and onion jam.
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with thyme; close with top bun.
